Terms of Use

Version 1.2 · effective October 29, 2026

These terms govern the use of the Parnaso app. The provider is Leo Carosa E.I.R.L. (Peruvian taxpayer ID / RUC 20613689819), a company operating under the trade name "Parnaso", domiciled at the registered tax address on file with SUNAT, Peru (public lookup by RUC at e-consultaruc.sunat.gob.pe) (“Parnaso” or “we”). By using the app you accept these terms; if you create an account, you accept them expressly.

1. What Parnaso is

Parnaso is an educational tool to practice counterpoint according to the method of Johann Joseph Fux (Gradus ad Parnassum, 1725). It includes a score editor, an automatic checker, generated cantus firmi, a daily challenge and a glossary.

The checker applies rules of the species-counterpoint tradition as documented in our rulebook. It is a learning aid: it does not replace a teacher’s judgment, and other schools may apply some rules differently.

2. Account

You can use Parnaso without an account. The account is optional and is used to back up your progress in the cloud. You must be at least 16 years old to create one.

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for the activity on your account. Let us know if you suspect unauthorized use.

You can delete your account at any time from Account › Delete my account.

3. Free plan and subscriptions

Parnaso offers free features (first species, the daily challenge, the glossary and Free mode) and a paid subscription, “Parnaso Maestro”, which gives access to second through fifth species and to writing with a MIDI keyboard or the microphone. Before subscribing you will clearly see the plan’s name, its length, its price and what it includes.

When a subscription includes a free trial, you are not charged during the trial. If you do not cancel before it ends, the subscription starts and the stated price is charged. If you cancel during the trial, you are not charged.

Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), using your account in that store. They renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal in your store’s subscription settings. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.

Refunds are governed by the policies of the store where you purchased, without prejudice to the rights granted to you by applicable consumer protection law.

If we change a subscription’s price, we will notify you in advance, and the store will ask for your consent where the law or its rules require it.

4. Permitted use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use Parnaso on your devices for study, practice and musical creation.

You may not: copy, modify, decompile or resell the app or its content; attempt to access other users’ data or our systems without authorization; use the app for unlawful activities; or intentionally overload or harm the service.

5. Intellectual property

Parnaso’s software, design, illustrations, rulebook, briefs, glossary and texts are Parnaso’s works and are protected by copyright (Peruvian Legislative Decree No. 822). The “Parnaso” name and its seal are distinctive signs of their owner.

Fux’s method is in the public domain. The app uses third-party components under their licenses: the Bravura music font and the Cormorant Garamond and EB Garamond fonts (SIL Open Font License 1.1), and the Salamander Grand Piano V3 samples by Alexander Holm (Creative Commons BY 3.0).

The exercises and compositions you write are yours. We store them only to provide the service; we do not publish them or use them for other purposes.

6. Availability of the service

We work to keep Parnaso running continuously, and the app keeps working offline. Even so, cloud backup may be temporarily interrupted for maintenance, provider failures or causes beyond our control.

We may update, improve or withdraw features. If we withdraw a paid feature you subscribed to, we will notify you and apply whatever the law and the store’s rules require.

7. Liability

Parnaso is offered as an educational tool. We do not guarantee specific academic or professional results.

We are not liable for damages that are not the direct and immediate consequence of a breach on our part, nor for failures of devices, networks or third-party services. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, in particular liability arising from willful misconduct or gross negligence, nor the non-waivable rights granted to you by the consumer protection laws of your country.

8. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Parnaso and delete your account whenever you wish. We may suspend or close an account that seriously breaches these terms, notifying you where possible. When an account is closed, its data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Privacy

The processing of your personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

10. Changes to the terms

We may update these terms. We will publish the new version with its date and notify you in the app before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you may stop using the service and delete your account.

11. Support and complaints

For questions or problems, write to soporte@parnaso.app. For personal-data matters, write to privacidad@parnaso.app.

Consumers may file a claim or complaint in our virtual Complaints Book (Libro de Reclamaciones), available on the app’s home screen. We will respond within fifteen (15) business days at most.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Peru. Any dispute will be submitted to the courts of Lima, without prejudice to your right to go to INDECOPI or the competent consumer authority. If you live in another country, you keep the mandatory protections granted by the law of your country of residence.
